I bought this game from the Playstation store. As for Dragon’s Dogma, well, it was fun for a while, but I didn’t get into the way that some people seem to have. I genuinely wish that game was a little better, so I have very high hopes for the rumoured upcoming next installment, but that’s another post; this is about Mafia III.

I have had various entries in this series on my “to get” lists for a while and enough boredom finally motivated me enough to bite the bullet and make the purchase. I have not played too much, but what I have played has been fun; if you didn’t know, it is an open-world game in the basic style of GTA3 (and onward).

The version that I purchased includes a lot of DLC, so here is hoping I can get some fun gameplay out of the game. The main draw for me; however, isn’t gameplay, it’s exploration. For a lot of games (nearly the majority of them, actually) having a gameworld that I can explore and ideally find secrets (and/or collectibles) in has more importance. Well, there are definite sets of collectibles in this game and it seems to have a fairly large area in which to go poking around, so it holds promise. Moreover, two of the collectibles are vintage Playboy magazines (!!!!!) and Vargas paintings – even better, you can thumb through a few pages of the Playboys in the pause menu – which is, without needing to mention it, totally radical and bodacious, my dudes.

Update: Fuck this game, crippling gameplay.
Update II: Fuck, what a fucking waste of 25 valuable leafbucks, I am so fucking mad. Fuck Sony’s return policy too. Fuck everything.
